Warm Fall Drink Recipes

Cranberry Apple Crush

The leaves are falling, the air is getting crisp and the days are getting shorter. Do you know what that means?  It's time to spread some fall cheer and make some warm fall beverages to cozy things up!  Enjoy! 


Cranberry Apple Crush

Ingredients:

5 cups apple cider or apple juice
5 cups cranberry juice
1 1/2 cups guava juice or mango nectar
1/4 cup lime juice
1 teaspoon ground ginger
1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1/2 teaspoon ground allspice
 Honey (optional)
 Kumquats (optional)
 Lime slices (optional)


Directions:

In a 4-quart Dutch oven combine apple cider, cranberry juice, guava juice, lime juice, ginger, cinnamon, and allspice. Bring to boiling; reduce heat. Simmer, uncovered, for 5 minutes, stirring occasionally. If desired, sweeten to taste with honey.

To serve, pour into mugs. If desired, garnish with lime slices and kumquats. Makes 8 to 10 servings.




Warm Pumpkin Spice

Warm Pumpkin Spice Drink

Ingredients:

1 cup whole milk, heated until very warm
1/4 cup canned pumpkin puree
1 tablespoon sugar
1/2 teaspoon pumpkin pie spice
1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
Whipped cream, optional
Cinnamon, optional


Directions:

Place all ingredients in blender. Remove center cap from the lid of the blender and use a folded kitchen towel to loosely hold the cap over the hole in a manner that steam can escape. Turn on the blender to low and then increase it to high. Blend ingredients until frothy. Transfer mixture to a mug, top with whipped cream, if desired, and sprinkle with additional pumpkin pie spice or cinnamon.



Mulled Wine

Mulled Wine

Ingredients:

1 (750 ml) bottle red wine
1 orange, sliced
1/4 cup brandy (optional)
1/4 cup honey or sugar
8 whole cloves
2 cinnamon sticks
2 star anise


Directions:

Combine all ingredients in a non-aluminum saucepan, and bring to a boil over medium-high heat. Reduce heat to medium-low, and let simmer for at least 15 minutes. Strain, and serve warm.  You can also place the oranges, cloves, cinnamon, and star anise in a cheesecloth. Then simply strain and pull out the bundle when ready.

Makes approximately 4 servings.
